Where are you based and do you travel?

We're based in Berlin / Europe but we will be shooting selected weddings with the fitting, higher-end budgets in Australia from November to March the following year. We are happy to travel for your destination wedding outside of our overseas itinerary, so don't hesitate to reach out and enquire for quotes including international travel fees.

[+]

What's the booking and post-booking process?

Please complete the contact form with as much detail as possible, as we only take on 15 weddings per year. We aim to respond within three days - if you haven’t heard back by then, kindly check your spam folder or follow up with us directly.

Once we've answered your questions, shared additional materials such as galleries and a client guide, and discussed the details in a Zoom call, we'll provide a contract for review and signature. We recommend reading both the contract and our FAQ carefully before signing.

A non-refundable 40% deposit is required to secure your date for both International and Australian weddings. For clients based within the EU, all quotes will include 19% VAT.

At least three months before your wedding, we’ll send you a detailed questionnaire to help us understand your expectations and navigate your day with ease. You’ll also be able to attach any relevant documents, such as runsheets or a list of important guests. Before the event, we’ll schedule at least one call to go through remaining details, offer timeline guidance, and refine everything together if needed.

Where has ALTA been published and which clients do you usually take on?

We've been organically featured in multiple Vogue Australia online articles, Dutch Vogue, Lensel, published on The Lane and listed under the "26 best wedding photographers in Europe" via The Wed.

Our couples often bring a distinct sense of style - whether modern, vintage-inspired, or entirely their own - or they’re drawn to thoughtful, non-traditional settings. They may be artists at heart, fashion-minded, or simply deeply connected to one another and not afraid of showing it. Above all, they feel aligned with our work and trust us to capture their story with care. We encourage planners reaching out to us to keep this in mind, as a team that shares the same vision creates the best results.

[+]

How and when do we get our images?

You will receive a small preview of approximately 6-15 photos within a few days, unless circumstances such as travel, personal commitments, or workload prevent us from editing the preview within this timeframe. The full online gallery will be delivered within 7-12 weeks after the event, depending on the amount of weddings shot and the number of images to be edited. Selected fine art prints will follow after delivery - you can favourite or leave the selection up to us. In case you are pre-approved to be published with Vogue, we will aim to provide the submission gallery within four to five days, unless a faster delivery is discussed before the wedding.

In rare instances, final delivery may be delayed due to extensive travel, personal circumstances or a high volume of weddings. Should this occur, we will notify you in advance and provide an extended preview gallery to ensure you still have a meaningful selection of images to enjoy while awaiting the full delivery.

[+]

How many photos will we receive?

We prioritize quality over quantity and approach every project with intention and care. Maintaining creative control over our process is essential to us, which is why we personally handle most of the post-production, such as culling and editing. Each image receives our attention, including minor retouching of blemishes (particularly for close-up portraits) and the removal of any distracting elements in the frame.

For a standard 9 hour wedding with approximately 120 guests, we typically deliver 550-600 carefully selected and edited images, averaging 60+-70+ images per hour. However, this is a general guideline and can vary based on factors such as the guest count, event schedule, entertainment, and the overall scale. For larger weddings with extensive activities or a large number of guests, the delivered amount of images may increase. Conversely, for smaller-scale events, such as elopements, civil ceremonies, or weddings with fewer scheduled activities, a smaller guest list, or limited photography opportunities (e.g., many and long speeches, more time spent on dining or guests preferring not to be photographed), the total number of delivered images may be lower. Our galleries provide a curated, artistic vignette of the day. It's recommended to inform us of the most important moments and loved ones on the day beforehand and fill out the questionnaire in advance, however we cannot always guarantee the requested captures due to how subjective and fast-paced a wedding day is.

[+]

What's included in your pricing and what do you offer that others might not?

ALTA’s pricing is shaped by the level of time, care, and personal involvement we bring to each wedding. Unlike photographers who take on 30 to 40 weddings a year, we limit ourselves to just 15. This allows us to work closely with each couple or / and planner and offer a genuinely boutique experience, which is reflected in our rates. Our process often includes several Zoom calls or in-person meetings to assist with planning, logistics, and creative direction. While optional, this time investment helps ensure your day runs smoothly and feels true to you.

We also include film photography as a standard part of your coverage - typically 30–50% of your final gallery is shot on film. We work with top-tier labs and scanning services to deliver the highest quality.

Your quote also covers travel and accommodation for both photographers (a lead and second shooter), full wedding day coverage, and the many hours of post-production work that follow - culling, editing, and professional retouching. The support we offer throughout the planning journey, from sourcing vendors to helping with dress fittings, is also factored in. This kind of service isn’t about volume - it’s about depth, intention, and quality. If our vision aligns and you're looking for a photographer who invests time, creativity, and care into every step of the process, we’d love to hear from you. We are not the most affordable option by design, but we are deeply committed to delivering a meaningful, collaborative experience and timeless images you’ll truly value.

How important are the locations and program for a wedding?

It’s important to understand that your chosen locations and circumstances will significantly influence the overall look and feel of your wedding gallery. If you have reference images or specific expectations, these factors play a crucial role in achieving your desired aesthetic. For instance, selecting a thoughtfully styled getting-ready location with ample natural light, decluttered spaces, and thoughtful details can make a noticeable difference in the final images.

For the ceremony, outdoor settings in direct midday sun can be harsh and unflattering (and uncomfortable in summer heat). Opting for shaded areas or providing thoughtful touches like fashionable sun umbrellas or fans can ensure both comfort and more flattering photos. Conversely, darker venues may require the use of flash photography to avoid unflattering shadows and produce the best results.Every choice you make for your wedding day, from the setting to the details and even guest entertainment (think Boccia, card games, live music, providing cigars etc.), will be reflected in your images. If your reception and evening program are understated, with few activities aside from speeches, this will be mirrored in the tone and the number of images captured. Thoughtfully curating each aspect of your day authentically ensures that your gallery tells a vibrant and visually compelling story that matches your personalities.

Any advices for booking and planning?

When planning your wedding, we recommend starting with a priority list to focus on the most important aspects of your day while staying within your budget range. If you’re not working with a planner or stylist, which we highly recommend specifically for medium-sized to larger weddings, your first bookings should be the venue and photographer, as these often book out well in advance. If you do have a planner, they should be your first point of contact, followed by catering and other key vendors. Create a day that feels authentic and reflective of who you are as a couple and a fun experience for your guests. If that means skipping traditions like bouquets, speeches, or a formal program, embrace those choices - it’s your day, and it should feel true to you. Off-season weddings can be cheaper than weddings during peak season, and also more comfortable - while summer weddings sound fun in theory, our summers have been getting hotter and 35 degree Celsius days are common for mediterranean destination weddings.

We recommend adding 20% to your predicted budget to account for unexpected costs that often arise during the planning process, such as unforeseen travel expenses, or adjustments to vendor services. Thoughtful planning and flexibility will ensure a memorable and stress-free celebration.

What's your approach and shooting style?

ALTA is the choice for couples seeking a photographer who breaks away from traditional wedding photography and creates intimate, timeless images. Our approach is primarily documentary-style, capturing your day naturally as it unfolds while celebrating alongside you and your guests. We focus on keeping the images authentic and relaxed, prioritizing candid moments over staged family portraits and a long list of group photos, allowing the in-between moments to shine. Our photography is intuitive and thoughtful, avoiding fleeting trends like unnecessary blur to ensure your images remain classic and meaningful.

When it comes to couple portraits, we enjoy exploring creative compositions and incorporating subtle elements of fashion, as well as using dynamic flash photography to create a diverse documentary of the day. Even if portraits aren’t your top priority, we recommend setting aside sufficient time for them - ideally more than 35 minutes, as it often takes time to get comfortable - and possibly splitting the session into two slots, with one during the softer light hours. During these sessions, we’ll guide you gently and naturally, ensuring you feel at ease while we capture moments that feel genuine.

[+]

Will you retouch our images?

It's standard in the fashion industry to lightly retouch blemishes and dark circles or in general anything that might be too unflattering. Unless you tell us not to, this is by default included in ALTA's services, particularly for close-up shots and portraits of you and your partner. We want you to feel beautiful and content, and you don't hire a professional photographer often. The retouching will always be minimal, never unnatural and is done as it would be for a campaign. We also removes any unwanted objects from pictures.

[+]

Do you offer albums?

We do not offer traditional albums. We do offer a contemporary, fashion-inspired coffee table book, crafted with high quality materials and paper, which is currently in the prototype stage and a fixed design (including your details of course). We will select the best images and you can approve or alter in one revision. Once you're happy with it, we'll send it off for production to an outstanding printer in Europe.

Above all, they feel aligned with our work and trust us to capture their story with care. We encourage planners reaching out to us to keep this in mind, as a team that shares the same vision creates the best results.
